![]() ![]() We asked Epic if we could talk frankly about the situation and they were like whatever, so here's a bit of insight into what this all means and why we did it: It's incredible news for us and I'm hoping you all can be excited about it, too. Okay so goofing aside, yes, we've signed with Epic for PC launch exclusivity. What'd be next? Game consoles paying for games to be exclusive on their consoles? Netflix paying for exclusive shows? Newspapers paying for exclusive articles? It'd be some sort of late capitalist dystopia. Just imagine if other companies got it in their head to offer funding in exchange for exclusives. This is exactly what Marx warned us about! ![]() Here's what these Epic folks are doing: First they teach every kid in the world these obnoxious dances and now they're offering funding to game developers in exchange for PC exclusivity on their game store. Ooblets is out now in game preview.Everyone kept talking about this "Epic" thing, so we thought we'd see what it's all about. Ooblets seems to have a pretty laid-back premise, with the town apparently driven by dancing and seed collection: you'll farm and grow crops, collect ooblets and upgrade them before volunteering them into dance battles to earn seeds, customise your character and your house, make friends with the townspeople, and generally just lead your ooblets on a happy little dance around town. We couldn’t have done all this without you." We want to profoundly thank all the folks who made Ooblets possible, from those who have contributed their incredible work on the game to all the friends and fans who have supported us over the years. There’s still a long way to go to take it from early access to 1.0, so I hope you’ll all join us for the journey. Developing Ooblets has been our lives for the past 4 years, and it’s been a pretty wild ride full of major ups and downs. As per the game's official announcement, developers GlumberLand say "Ooblets is our lil studio’s first game release, and we’re really excited to have people finally play it. It's available on the Microsoft Store, currently at a 20% discount - at £16.79/$19.99 instead of £20.99/$24.99 - but it's still a work in progress, and the devs remind you not to expect a completely finished game. ![]()
